The stunning Land Rover Discovery is a mid-sized SUV, ideal for off-road conditions as well as normal roads. The first land rover discovery was introduced in 1989 with a further four generations of the vehicle.

The Land Rover Discovery Series one was based on the style of the previous Land Rovers but aimed to be a more upmarket model, at a lower price then enticing a larger market segment in which to compete with Japanese models that were available at the time.

The discovery was initially available in a three door version, with the five door becoming available the following year. The discovery's were available with 5 seats, with the additional option of having a further 2 seats in the boot space.

The discovery's interiors were designed by the Conran Design Group in London, the aim of the interiors was to position the vehicle as a 'lifestyle accessory' rather than just something that gets you from A to B. And a lifestyle accessory it became as the interiors won the British Design awards in 1989.

Before 1994 the discovery was available with either the 2.5 liter 200 Tdi engine or the 3.5 liter Rover V8 engine, however, as of 1994 the 200Tdi and 3.5 L V8 engines were replaced with the 2.5 L 300TDi 4-cylinder and 3.9 L Rover V8 engines. These changes brought about the new discovery model being named the 'Discovery 2'.

Following on from the '1994 discovery 2' came the II Series Discovery in 1998, the Discovery 3 in 2004, the LR3 and the present discovery model the LR4.

So, from 1989 to this day, the discovery has gone from strength to strength offering many new technological features as well as swish interiors as it develops.

It's definitely one of the best off-road vehicles around and you can get your very own here at Diecast Cars!
