The German car manufacturer BMW, which has designed such cars as the BMW M3 Coupe, the BMW m6 Convertible and the BMW 1 Series, is said to have made record profits in 2010. According to sources this increase in profit, which is said to carry on through 2011, has been helped along by steep sales growth in the countries of China, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

Due to China, Hong Kong and Taiwan importing over 183,328 cars it is in accordance that they have helped push up BMW's sales in 2010. This increase in sales meant that BMW's net profit in 2010 soared to 3.23 billion euro’s from 210 million euro's in 2009. This means that BMW’s revenues were up by 19.3% to a record 30.48 billion euro’s.

As well as these increases for BMW, statistics have shown that 2011 is the year of the car. This is perhaps because statistics have shown a strong increase in new car sales from January this year onwards, looking to increase further throughout the remainder of the year.

Statistics from the Central Statistics Office have shown that around 13,470 new cars were licensed in February, this along with January means that from the first two months of this year, new car sales are running 22.2% ahead of the same period last year. This is a positive thing for Britain as it perhaps shows that many are not feeling the pinch of the ‘recession’ as much as it has been previously felt.
